Dry Powder

Committed capital a fund has available but not yet invested.

Dry powder is the money a fund can still deploy. High dry powder means investors are actively looking to invest; low dry powder means a fund may be near the end of its investing period. It affects how receptive an investor is to new deals.

Examples

A fund with fresh dry powder actively seeks deals. — A fund near its limit slows new investments.
