Pivot

A fundamental change in strategy — product, market or model — based on what you’ve learned.

A pivot redirects a startup toward a more promising opportunity while keeping the learnings so far. Common pivots change the target customer, the problem being solved or the revenue model. Knowing when to pivot versus persevere is a core founder skill.

Examples

A startup pivots from B2C to B2B after finding stronger demand. — A team pivots its product after pilots reveal the real need.
