Series A

The first major institutional VC round, focused on scaling a proven business model.

A Series A typically raises £2m–£10m+ in the UK once a startup has product-market fit and repeatable revenue. Led by a VC, it funds scaling go-to-market, hiring and expansion. Investors expect strong metrics (growth, retention, unit economics) and a clear path to a large outcome.

Examples

A SaaS company raises a £5m Series A on £1m ARR growing 3x year on year. — A marketplace raises Series A to expand into new cities.
