The Ask

The specific amount of money a startup is raising and what it will be used for.

The ask states how much you’re raising, at what stage/structure, and the milestones the money will fund. A clear, well-justified ask shows investors you understand your needs and plan. Vague or oversized asks undermine credibility.

Examples

“We’re raising £250k to reach £30k MRR over 14 months.” — A founder breaks the ask into hiring, product and marketing.

How it relates to The Startup Foundry

The Foundry helps you frame a credible ask — and through the Sprint, six companies each receive up to £250k from its fund.
